DAKARAI  INCE

He was born in Brooklyn, New York to his father and mother, Greg Ince and Shaliah Haith, who raised him in the culture from the age of three. Over the years Brother Omo grew a love for West African rhythms and music. After being taught djembe, he grew a particular interest in the dununs and strives to become a master dunun player as he continues in his learning and knowledge of music, rhythms, and culture. Brother Omo wishes to persist in his learning and continue to move towards achieving his goals to advance in his artistic and cultural life. As he does so, he looks forward to spreading the love for West African performance, music, and tradition to those who wish to take part in it. To his students Brother Omo spreads this message: "The drum doesn't know color, gender, or age. The drum only knows our hearts, and spreads happiness through the sound of music."
Dakarai Omolara Kokayi Ince is a young man whose name means  "Happy child, born at the right time, summoned by the people". With every step he takes, he strives to bring positive energy to everything around him. He's found the best way to  do that is to  cling to his artistic ways of being through music, dance, and acting. Dakarai, known in the cultural community as Brother Omo, is an Artist-Educator of West African culture.
